Wight Merit Walking Holidays are offered subject to availability and the receipt by Wight Merit of a completed booking form with associated deposit/s. No walking holiday shall be deemed to have been booked until Wight Merit has confirmed such booking in writing to the person making the booking.
Accommodation will be in Wight Merit Hotels all of which are inspected and graded by the RAC, AA, or ETC. Board basis will be, breakfast, lunch and evening dinner on walking days, and breakfast and evening dinner only on non walking or rest days. All rooms have en-suite facilities. Unless otherwise stated pub lunches are provided on all guided walks. The Tennyson trail includes a packed lunch as there are no suitable eating establishments on this walk.
Transport to and from the planned walks is provided where required. If the walk leader needs to curtail the walk due to exceptional and unforeseen circumstances return transport will be arranged. However, if a member of the party decides to leave a walk early, (without prior notification) they shall be responsible for making their own way back to the hotel/ferry.
It is the responsibility of all walkers to wear suitable clothing and footwear. Wight Merit Walking Holidays shall not be held responsible for any damage to such clothing and/or footwear during the course of any of its guided walks.
Cliff path and hill walking can be dangerous and whilst leaders will take every care to ensure the safety of the party it is the sole responsibility of each and every walker to conduct themselves in a manner conducive to their own and others safety. No responsibility can be taken for any walkers who choose to leave the led walk.
Once the reservation has been confirmed Wight Merit guarantees not to increase the price of the holiday except in the following circumstances:
1) There is an increase in the rate of Value Added Tax.
2) There is an increase in transport costs.
Wight Merit further guarantees that any increase in these charges will be notified to you not less than 30 days before the start date of your holiday. Any increases that occur after this date will be wholly borne by Wight Merit.
A non-refundable deposit per person is required to confirm a booking. Once a booking has been confirmed, any cancellation will incur charges in line with the Industry Standard Scale of Cancellation Fees.

Days are counted from commencement days of holiday. You are strongly advised to take out cancellation insurance to protect your party from such charges.
Wight Merit will not under normal circumstances cancel your booking. Where circumstances which are out of their control occur i.e.: closure of footpaths or events which may not be reasonably foreseen, then Wight Merit will offer an alternative holiday date or a full refund of all monies paid.
Wight Merit Walking Holidays programmes are subject to a minimum of four persons walking (Walk the Diamond and group programme subject to ten persons walking)
Where the minimum number is not reached by the period 14 days before commencement of holiday, Wight Merit will cancel the programme and offer you an alternative programme or a full refund of all monies paid.
The Island's coastline is subject to erosion and it may not always be possible to walk a particular pathway. Wight Merit Walking Holidays reserve the right to alter or substitute any of its published walks in the event of circumstances beyond their control.
Payment of the outstanding balance is required two (2) weeks before the start date of the holiday.
In line with all responsible tour operators Wight Merit Walking Holidays protects your deposit and/or any pre-payments. All such payments are held in a trust account and Wight Merit does not release any of this money for payment until the successful completion of your walking holiday.
If your Solent crossing has been arranged by Wight Merit, we shall ensure that you are issued with a return ticket as security of travel.
Wight Merit Walking Holidays is committed to providing you with a walking holiday that is both safe and memorable. In the event that you have cause for any complaint whilst on one of our walking holidays you should, in the first case, make your complaint known to the proprietor at the hotel in which you are staying. If your hotel proprietor is unable to remedy your complaint then you should write to the Company Secretary, Wight Merit Hotels Limited, 1 Grange Road, Shanklin, Isle of Wight, PO37 6NN, stating the nature of your complaint. To enable us to deal with any complaint fairly and reasonably, please ensure that you write to us within 2 weeks of the end of your holiday.
